WIN strengthens ties with the Asian independent community

This month, WIN will mark a significant milestone with its first visits to South Korea and Taiwan, underscoring the organization’s commitment to fostering deeper connections within the Asian region.

On August 31, WIN CEO Noemí Planas and Brendan Gaffney, Global Marketing Committee Secretariat of the Independent Music Coalition Japan (IMCJ), will speak at the Music Flow Forum, organized by the Bupyeong-gu Office of Incheon in partnership with local trade association Record Label Industry Association of Korea (LIAK).

Held at the Bupyeong Arts Center, the Music Flow Festival is a celebration of indie music culture with live performances by renowned bands and DJs. Professional activities organized at the Music Flow Forum will include networking opportunities such as business matching sessions, giving Korean professionals a unique chance to engage with international delegates. The event will feature a panel discussion on inter-regional collaboration moderated by WIN director and LIAK vice-chair Marty Ro.

WIN’s broad mission in the Asia-Pacific region includes building bridges between territories, fostering cooperation, and building associative structures and networks. The APAC Alliance working group is instrumental to this goal, and one of its key priorities is to expand its network in the region.

On September 2, Planas will visit Taipei to provide a free workshop for independent music companies and entrepreneurs interested in setting up a local trade association. The workshop will be held at the offices of TAICCA, the Taiwan Creative Content Agency. Participants will learn key aspects to consider when embarking on such a project, as well as the benefits of WIN membership.

These activities cement WIN’s ongoing dedication to supporting and empowering the independent music sector across the Asian region, laying the groundwork for future collaborations and growth.
