WINCON 2023: Empowering Independents, Celebrating Diversity

  • The global independent music community comes together to drive agenda forward and celebrate diversity.
  • WIN’s annual meeting will take place in Lisbon during the Digital Music Days conference organized by AMAEI.
  • Generative AI, the importance of policymaking to drive change, performance rights and the values of independents at the center of the conversation.

WIN’s annual conference for the global independent network, WINCON, will take place in Lisbon (Portugal), on October 30. The leaders of trade associations representing over 40 territories in five continents will meet in Europe to drive the independent agenda forward, share knowledge and resources, and celebrate being part of a diverse, multilingual and multicultural community.

The event is hosted by Portuguese WIN member Associação Profissional de Músicos Artistas e Editoras Independentes, (AMAEI), and is part of the Digital Music Days conference that will take place from October 30 to 31 at the Belém Cultural Center. The WIN board will hold an in-person meeting in Lisbon prior to the conference.

The full-day WINCON 2023 will run from 10 to 19h. During the closed morning sessions, WIN members will review the organization’s projects and activities and delve into collaborative discussions on generative AI, policymaking, performance rights, and the independents’ values.

In the afternoon, WINCON 2023 will feature sessions open to all the Digital Music Days attendees with topics covering effective ISRC implementation and metadata management, solutions to connect the independent industry like the brand-new WINHUB Community, and insights into the independent music scenes in India, Paraguay and Bulgaria provided by the newest members of the WIN community: SIMCA, AMI PY and ANMIP. The director of the Latin American Independent Music Observatory (OLMI) will also present an exclusive advance of the results of its new study in the Latin American country.

The event will conclude with a cocktail powered by Bandcamp where WINCON delegates and Digital Music Days participants will be able to network and build connections with the Portuguese music industry professionals.

WINCON 2023 is organized by WIN in collaboration with AMAEI and the support of DGARTES and Bandcamp.
