WIN announces new board of directors

The Worldwide Independent Network (WIN) has announced its newly elected board of directors. Three new directors join the WIN Board: Maria Amato (AIR, Australia), Takuya Yamazaki (IMCJ, Japan), and Gord Dimitrieff (Aporia Records, Canada).

Maria Amato is the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR). Maria has worked in the Arts and not-for-profit sector for over 25 years specialising in finance and business management through her own consultancy firm, Results Management.

Takuya Yamazaki moves from his previous role as WIN alternative board member, succeeding his predecessor Takashi Kamide, who is stepping down as head of Independent Music Coalition Japan (IMCJ) in June 2021. He is the founder and Managing Partner of Field-R Law Offices, a niche sports and entertainment legal practice based in Tokyo.

Gord Dimitrieff has been in the independent music business his entire professional career; as a college radio DJ, road manager, label owner and publisher. In 2000, he founded Aporia Records, an integrated label-publisher that has released near 70 albums. He is also a board member and vice-chair of the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA).

The new directors join a 15 person board made up of representatives of independent music companies and trade associations in key markets around the world. The WIN board will continue to guide the general direction of the organization, focusing on Covid recovery, developing the network of associations, market research, international performance rights, and challenges for independents in today’s business environment.

WIN would like to thank outgoing directors Takashi Kamide, Matthew Rogers and Justin West for their dedication and contributions to WIN and the wider community over the course of their respective directorships.
